Agile Essentials Workshop: Training and Application

06-12-2019 8:00 am - 06-13-2019 5:00 pm

Have you taken an Agile or Scrum certification course, but you’re still not quite sure what to do back at the office?  This workshop is for you!

Are you still seeking to understand what the Agile and Scrum words mean, and how they relate to your traditional waterfall project knowledge?  This workshop is for you!

This two-day foundational workshop will help project sponsors, project managers, business analysts, and project team members who are new to Agile and Scrum, and it will refresh anyone who is already practicing the skills -- because this training is designed to supplement Agile-focused certifications.

Beginning with the Agile Mindset and covering the Scrum Roles and Scrum Events, students learn and practice throughout the two days in a safe training environment.  There will be time for questions about real-work situations and to obtain the instructor’s insights about how to address challenges or uncertainty, in both private and government organizations.

Advance reading of the current Scrum Guide is recommended but not required. (Link)

Speaker: Nancy Wright, Agile Trainer and Coach

Nancy Wright is an active instructor and speaking volunteer for PMI-SVC.  Her courses include 1- and 2-day Agile Application workshops, Career Development speaking engagements, tips and tricks about Product Planning for Agile projects, and comparing waterfall and Agile approaches for key project management knowledge areas, roles, practices, artifacts, and organizational change management.

Nancy’s career has focused on project, program, portfolio, and strategic management within the health care and IT industries.  Her Agile knowledge and skills have been honed through a variety of business experiences in both the private and public sectors, always with a focus on delivering positive and successful client outcomes.

Nancy is passionate about training and coaching the Agile/Scrum framework, developed through practical experience on enterprise-wide business/IT project implementations and enhanced through certifications and coaching contracts.  Nancy considers herself a lifelong learner and holds many Agile certifications:  CSM®, CSPO®, CSP-SM®, PMI-ACP®, SAFe SPC4, ICP-ACC, and CAL I.  She teaches Agile workshops through Sacramento training organizations, emphasizing application and adoption with hands-on exercises.  She’s licensed as a trained facilitator for The Agile FluencyTM Model, providing guided self-assessments to help teams determine their position on the Agile Fluency pathway and to develop recommendations for leadership regarding organizational investment opportunities to advance the application of Agile.  In addition, Nancy’s PMP® certification and early experience following waterfall practices provide her with the unique ability to help others “bridge” the transformation and mindset shift required for successful Agile adoption.
