1. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in project management 

 

Hey! My name is Vitus, I'm the marketing analytics director for our SVC PMI chapter. Currently I'm a business analyst with most of my background working in sales at various companies. I got into project management from one of my latest sales roles where I helped coordinate and plan sales events. That's where I got my first pass at project management and realized I was kind of good at this thing.  

 

2. What aspect of project management are you most passionate about? 

 

My favorite part of project management is working cross-functionally throughout the entire company. I get the chance to learn so much about a business by working alongside the different departments and their perspectives.  

 

3. What role do you currently play as a volunteer with PMI, and what does that involve? 

 

Currently I am the director of marketing analytics. I help monitor outcomes from our marketing efforts and campaigns then share that info with the team to help continuously gauge performance and plan for future efforts. 

 

4. What has been the most rewarding part of volunteering with PMI? How has volunteering with PMI contributed to your personal or professional growth? 

 

The most rewarding part of volunteering has been the community. Knowing that we are helping hundreds of people connect and fulfill their ambitions. Personally, I've been able to take my learnings from volunteering and apply them to my job as a BA by identifying opportunities for improvement with my company's sales and marketing. 

 

5. What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a PMI volunteer? (Why should someone join PMI? Why should they volunteer for PMI?) 

 

Do it! Worst case scenario, you make connections and learn new skills.
