Presentation Title:  Agile Strategy Management:How to enable strategic alignment throughout your entire organization.”
Speaker: Brian Levy

Introduction:Studies show that as few as 1 in 7 people are able to successfully navigate the discussions that are necessary to change organizational strategies when they are faced with planning that is based on incorrect foundations (e.g., Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2007). This is because most organizational cultures reward silence over evidenced-based, decision-making. When organizations don’t include the underlying foundations (i.e. mental models) behind their strategic approach and/or don’t promote a culture amenable to challenging false assumptions, then people within the organization may see that a strategic approach will be unsuccessful, but they tend not to lift a finger to correct the strategy.

Description:The purpose of the webinar is to familiarize attendees with new techniques in strategic  management.  The webinar begins with an overview of the nature of strategy and its main components. It includes a detailed explanation of the context, mental models, decisions and activities that rely on each other in order produce a comprehensive picture of strategy for the organization.  The webinar concludes with an explanation of the relationships between the components and a Q&A period where the group can explore implications for their organization.

Learning Outcome

  • Understand the paradigms associated with traditional Strategy Management vs. Agile Strategy Management
  • Learn how each component of strategy should drive the other components
  • Understand the best ways to link strategy to execution
  • Explore how to apply those changes to your entire organization

Presenter Biography

Brian Levy   Brian Levy is the President of BridgePort Digital, an organizational optimization firm specializing in bridging the gap between strategic goals and strategic execution. While others in the industry have avoided metrics, Brian has been able to consistently improve productivity by over 30% within 3 to 6 months of operation verified with predefined metrics by aligning an organization’s performance management processes to the appropriate strategic approach. He’s accomplished this by coaching executives through strategic planning and the pioneering techniques of Agile Strategy Management. As an avid fan of continuous improvement, Brian often takes the time to engage in executive coaching personally in order to learn new skills to transfer to his employees. However, his real joy is in putting his Scrum@Scale Trainer status to use in the classroom and

training others in the techniques which lead to organizational optimization. That joy is most often utilized via training underrepresented minorities in careers related to software development and using his 10-year old daughter to explain Management by Acceptance concepts.
