Professional Development News

We are working to provide more events and training than ever this year.  We are looking into a number of personal growth and leadership online events in the next few months, Design Thinking workshop, PMP training, Kanban & Scrum courses and PM tool presentations.  Chapter forums that had been put on hold are being assessed and non-geography dependent forums are restarting (such as the Career Development forum).  Check out our event calendar on the Chapter’s website to see what is currently scheduled, and check back often to see events added as we finalize them.  We expect to be adding a number of events in the next month.

If you are interested in lending a hand with events or presenting at Chapter meetings or events, or if you have ideas about topics you’d like our Chapter to address send email to Chris Wolters at vppd@pmi-svc.org or me at 916-508-4824.

The Professional Development team is dedicated to encouraging Chapter members to pursue professional certifications and to support that pursuit.  On December 23, 2020, U.S. News posted a valuable article about certifications entitled “PMP Certifications: What You Need to Know to Succeed – a U.S. News Guide” that’s worth checking out.   (https://www.usnews.com/education/pmp-certifications)  Although neither PMI nor our Chapter sanctions the courses mentioned in the article, we feel that is valuable that members are aware of learning options.  Again, we plan on offering PMP and other certification courses quite soon.
