Topic: Procurement Management from the eyes of the PM
Topic Overview: We will talk about an area that is not very popular in most project management discussions but becomes important in real-life situation. We will talk about procurement management from the eyes of the project manager and if not managed properly, will lead to risk and issues. In this Presentation, we will break Procurement Management into the 5 process groups and explain what exactly does a PM do if there is Procurement in the project .
Bio:
Shash started her journey in India as a Statistics Intern, (her major being in Statistics), in 1987. After working in the Power Sector for few years, she moved to the IT Industry in 1991 as a Training Manager. She held many roles as Training Manager, Quality Analyst and Project Manager.
Being exposed to being a Project Manager, she realized her passion towards project management and transitioned to a role as a Full time Project Manager in 2008-2009.
So now she has 12+ years of experience in managing teams of business analysts, technical leads, testers, database administrators, business SMEs, trainers. She is well experienced in using both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies in projects. She has also been a release manager and a program manager.
She has been teaching and mentoring in project management for past 10 years and is currently teaching Procurement Management as part of the Online Project management Certification Program at UC Davis Extension (Past 5 Years)
She also has been associated with the PMI-Sacramento Valley Chapter since 2005. She has held several positions in the Professional Development, Marketing and Strategy areas which helped her lead the chapter as a President from 2010-2013.
She is an active volunteer for pediatric cancer and runs charity events. She enjoys cooking, running and listening to audiobooks. She also enjoys being a grandma to an 18 month old grandson.
